Your reservation is very important to Island Time Ebike Rentals. These ebikes are reserved especially for you. We respectfully request at least 24 hours notice of cancellations or rescheduling your ebike rentals.
Any reservations missed, late cancelled or changed without 24 hours notice will result in a charge equal to 100% of the reserved ebike.
If it is raining the morning of rental start time then we will reschedule or give a full refund of your reservation.

You must be 16 years or older to rent an E bike. Maximum weight of riders is 275 lbs. Minimum height is 4’11” and maximum height is 6’4″. Ebikes CANNOT be used to pull trailers or “Tag-a-longs”. NO animals of any kind will be allowed on/or attached to E bike per ANP. Please familiarize yourself with ANP (Acadia National Park) FAQ’s listed on their website here.

The Hull’s Cove Visitor Center is located at 25 Visitor Center Road, Bar Harbor. Our ebikes will be situated at the far end of the parking lot on the right-hand side. You can park your vehicle anywhere in the parking lot, but make sure to display your vehicle park pass on your windshield. We will meet you there 15 minutes before your reservation start time to go over the park rules, explain the Acadia National Park map, and give you a brief lesson on how to operate the ebike. You will also receive a helmet, map, storage bag, lock, and a water bottle holder along with the ebike.

The Carriage Roads Acadia National Park are hard-packed gravel with constantly changing elevations.

Yes, E bikes are very safe. Island Time provides you with a helmet, a training session on the use of the E bike, a padlock, bike bag or rack, and map of the ANP (Acadia National Park) Carriage Trails. Please make sure to: wear proper riding attire, that nothing is or can get caught in the pedals or spokes of the bike. You must wear closed-toe shoes when riding, YIELD to horses, other bikers and hikers. Helmets are required on the Carriage trails.

We do not provide food OR water. Please bring your own or stop and support any of the local restaurants/convenience shops. Jordan Pond House is the only restaurant on the Carriage Trails. It is typically VERY busy w/long wait times. Riding into the villages of Bar Harbor (Duck Brook Bridge Rd.) and Northeast Harbor offers places to stop. Staying hydrated is strongly encouraged.

Depending on the damage, you will be responsible for the cost of repairs and labor. Again, please make sure proper attire is worn and you check for loose clothing or backpack straps from damaging spokes. Island Time stickers are on every E bike with a cell # to contact us if something does happen.
We do provide ebike insurance to cover any cost from damage or theft. The insurance is offered during the checkout process of your reservation.

Your level of fitness does not matter nearly as much as a traditional bicycle. As long as you are in good physical health, are able to ride a regular bike, have good balance and coordination.

“We offer a range of pedal bikes for rent. The rental fee for the first day is $25 and $20 for each additional day. Please note that bikes are available for rent exclusively at our shop located in Southwest Harbor. However, we provide bike racks so that you can carry the bikes with you on your car.”

The range of an E-bike generally lasts between 30 to 50 miles, depending on the weight of the rider and the amount of effort put into pedaling. The range can be extended by pedaling more. The distance covered per battery decreases with an increase in the weight of the rider. The E-bike will be fully charged at the time of rental. You can use pedal assist to reach speeds up to 20 mph, but there is no throttle control. The speed limit on the Carriage Trails is 20 mph, and it is mandatory to yield to people horseback riding Acadia National Park.

At Hull’s Cove visitor center, there is a small bike rack at the parking lot level to lockup the ebikes. We do appreciate a text message to let us know your party is back and E bikes are ready for pick-up.

If you are arriving at the Acadia Visitor Center by vehicle, you will need to display a vehicle pass on your windshield. If you are walking or coming by bus, you will need a personal pass for individual entry. You can purchase park passes online in advance or buy them at the Hull’s Cove visitor center.

All the bathrooms are marked on the map we provide for you. Every parking area has composting toilet facilities. The National park visitor center (Hull’s Cove), Park headquarters, and the Jordan Pond House has restrooms.

The weekends are typically the best time to ebike Acadia Carriage Roads because it is less crowded as most people come for or finish their vacation. The Acadia fall foliage usually peaks around mid to late October.

Delivery times are exact for your reservation start time because we are delivering these ebikes to you inside Acadia National Park.
For the Self Guided reservations the start and finish time vary by season.
-From April18th – May 19th deliveries are at 9:30 am. All bikes need to be returned no later than 3:30 pm. All ebikes that are returned late will be charge 25$ per hour per ebike.
-From May 20th – October 14th deliveries are at 9 am. All bikes need to be returned no later than 3 pm. All ebikes that are returned late will be charge 25$ per hour per ebike.
-From October 1th – November 12th deliveries are at 10 am. All bikes need to be returned no later than 3 pm. All ebikes that are returned late will be charge 25$ per hour per ebike.
If you have reservations for the Guided Tour then the start time is 10am and the duration is 4 hours.

The Acadia National Park website is the best source for current trails and conditions at nps.gov. We will provide you with and go over the Acadia Carriage Roads map or the Southwest Harbor trail map, depending on which location you are e bike riding at.

We have a physical store front in the village of Southwest Harbor which is about a mile bike ride to get into the park and we have a remote delivery service to the Hull’s Cove Visitor Center to access the Carriage Roads. Our Acadia Park Tours have a starting location at the Hull’s Cove Visitor Center Bar Harbor. We were formerly known as Acadia Ebike Rentals.

We rent and sell both ebikes and bikes. We have an assortment of class 1 ebikes and hybrid bikes. For mountain biking we have both mountain bikes and mountain ebikes available.

The Island Explorer bus service and the bicycle express do not allow ebikes on the bike racks.

There is a $25 per ebike per hour charge for keeping the ebikes past the required return time from your Acadia carriage trails rental period. These carriage roads Acadia ebike rental have a specific pick up and drop off time at the Hulls Cove Visitor Center Bar Harbor location. If the ebikes are not returned from the carriage roads Acadia on time, then we have to send drivers back to the Acadia visitor center for a late pickup.
